Three different things are being paid for

Website development pays for creating the pages and agreed features. A domain is the name visitors type, such as yourbusiness.in. Hosting serves the files or application when someone visits. These can appear on one invoice, but they are different services with different renewal dates.

A simple analogy: the domain is the address, hosting is the space and development is fitting out the place. You can change the furniture without buying a new address. You can also move hosts while keeping the domain, with the right access and configuration.

The introductory price is not the whole story

Before buying a domain, check the first-year price, normal renewal price, taxes and any bundled extras. Compare the exact extension you want. An attractive registration offer does not tell you what year two will cost, and a premium name may follow different pricing.

Use an email you control for the registrar account and renewal notices. Keep recovery details current. ICANN’s renewal guidance explains expiry and renewal reminders. Reminders help; maintaining the domain still needs an owner. Put its renewal date in your calendar before future-you develops opinions about past-you.

Hosting depends on what the website does

A small static website and a shop with payments, product management and customer accounts have different requirements. Ask what the proposed plan allows: storage, traffic, forms, backups, support and commercial use. ‘Free’ is a price, not a complete description of the terms.

Check what happens if you exceed a limit and who receives the bill. Ask whether HTTPS is included and who handles configuration. Business email may be a separate subscription even when your website uses the same domain. If someone says ‘everything included’, ask them to list everything. This is a budget, not a trust fall.

A Webzy budget example, with the missing bits visible

For a simple site, the ₹2,000 Mini build plus optional static care at ₹2,400 per year gives a known first-year subtotal of ₹4,400. Add your selected domain, any agreed paid tools and applicable taxes. We confirm those costs before starting; we do not pretend an unknown domain price is zero.

The static-care plan includes hosting within agreed limits, SSL, uptime checks, a recoverable copy and four small changes per year of up to 15 minutes each. Domain renewal is extra. If the site stays the same and you continue that plan, the current recurring care charge is ₹2,400 per year, plus domain renewal and any other recurring services. Future changes or larger requirements need a separate quote.

If you arrange hosting yourself, confirm it is suitable for the delivered website and agree who is responsible for deployment, renewals and support. See Webzy’s current scope and pricing for the full terms.

Five questions before you say yes

  1. What is the complete first-year cost, including tax and setup?
  2. What renews, on what date and at what current price?
  3. Whose name and email control the domain and core accounts?
  4. What happens if traffic or usage exceeds the plan?
  5. What can I take with me if I change developer or host?

Keep the answers with your invoice. For the development side of the budget, read what a ₹2,000 website includes. Clear costs are part of a good website experience, including the experience of being the person who pays for it.
